
Program goals:
- get to know some of the oldest trees of the Lokrum Reserve and the Trsteno Arboretum
- learn about the importance and role of old trees (with emphasis on olive trees)
- raise the participants’ awareness for the purpose of preserving old trees
- spend educational, fun and quality time in nature
- realize mistakes in the management of old trees
- get to know the value of trees for man through history and the mythology related to trees
Expected outcomes:
After participating in the educational program, the participants will be able to:
- Identify old trees and describe the value of old trees
- Name the types of old trees in the Trsteno Arboretum and the Lokrum Reserve
- Measure the height and diameter at breast height of a tree
- Associate old trees with anecdotes from the past and mythology
